10 most memorable SNES title songs

10. E.V.O. Search for Eden (Enix, 1993)

A serene, string-laden song perfectly suited for a game about the vicissitudes of Mother Nature.

9. NFL QB Club 96 (Acclaim, 1995)

When you think of music in SNES football games, you usually think of shoddy production with muffled instrumentation. That wasn't the case here.

8. The Lost Vikings (Interplay, 1993)

Very nice instrumentation and voice samples. This was one of those multi-platform games that truly took advantage of the Super Nintendo's audio capabilities and thus sounded exponentially better than the Genesis version.

7. Sim City (Nintendo, 1991)

This is a brief, hypnotic melody looped over and over. Against the backdrop of the city on the title screen, it is quite memorable.

6. Mega Man Soccer (Capcom, 1993)

This game was an oddity which most people never played, and its soundtrack was largely non-descript. The title song however was very catchy.

5. Cool World (Ocean, 1993)

Ocean seemed to value high-quality music composition in its various movie-based games, and Cool World would hold to this tendency.

4. Top Gear (Kemco, 1992)

This song was actually based off the ending of Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 for Amiga and Atari ST. The soundtrack of Top Gear is one of the most distinct on SNES.

3. The Lawnmower Man (THQ, 1993)

A merely OK game based on the 1992 film, but the music is shockingly good. The title song is what the music in a dramatic movie-based game should be.

2. The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (Konami, 1992)

This song, based on the traditional Japanese style, is so peaceful, yet catchy. I would often power up my Super NES as a kid just to listen to it.

1. Secret of Mana (Square, 1993)

Arguably the greatest soundtrack in SNES history also has the greatest title song. This was perhaps THE game that truly showed what could be accomplished with the Super NES sound chip. I will always have great memories of the awe I felt playing this unique multi-player action-RPG at my friend's house, and the somber, beautiful song on the title screen.
